State police museum continues an active first year in Grafton

Grafton – About a 20-year process of collecting artifacts resulted in the opening of the nonprofit Massachusetts State Police Museum and Learning Center (MSPMLC) in the former barracks built in 1931 at 44 Worcester St. (Route 140) in Grafton. While the building’s renovation is still “a work in progress,” the time and energy is deserved, noted Charlie “Shirl” Alejandro, a retired trooper and museum director.

Grafton selectmen review fall Town Meeting warrant

Grafton - At its Sept. 15 meeting, the Grafton Board of Selectmen reviewed 35 proposed articles for presentation at the Oct. 19 fall Town Meeting, and deleted six of them. Town Meeting warrant articles are proposed by the town government or through a petition submitted by voters.

‘Super Park’ again discussed by Grafton selectmen

Grafton - A Town Meeting article regarding Super Park – a recreation and improvement of the park destroyed when the new high school was built - was a topic of discussion at the Sept. 15 meeting of the Grafton Board of Selectmen. Voters had rejected funding the park at the spring Town Meeting. Two articles on the warrant sought a total of $243,000 for the first phase of the Super Park’s land acquisition. The committee secured $100,000 from Community Preservation funds but did not, however, secure the $143,000 requested from leftover funds from building the Grafton Fire Station.
