Grafton Economic Development: ‘Committed to the Future. Grounded by the Past’

Grafton – Grafton’s Economic Development Commission, a quasi-government entity, was established in 1991 to foster economic growth in the town of Grafton. Chaired by Elias Hanna, the current 10-member board’s mission is “to promote sustainable economic development and to assist the Board of Selectmen and the Planning Board in the implementation of the Town’s economic goals and objectives.”

‘Tourna-Mint’ to benefit Grafton girl

Grafton – Ever since five-year-old Sophia Sugarman tragically lost her mother in April, the Grafton Police Department has actively participated in raising funds for the little girl. On Saturday, Aug. 6, members of the department are inviting others to join them in the 5th Annual KMS Golf Tourna-mint, to be held at Highfields Golf and Country Club in Grafton. Proceeds will benefit a fund set up for Sophia.

Residents express concern with location of marijuana clinic

Grafton - James Gallagher, of Hollywood Drive, Grafton, spoke before the Grafton Board of Selectmen at its Feb. 16 meeting to express his concerns regarding a medical marijuana dispensary that is being built at 206 Worcester St. Gallagher met with the board as a follow-up to its Jan. 11 meeting which was ended abruptly by the board after a number of residents became visibly angry during a discussion of the proposed facility.

Senior chorus performs year-end concert

Grafton - Grafton’s Senior Center Chorus performed an end-of-season concert May 20, featuring Broadway show songs, rock ‘n’ roll music and fun tunes, at the Senior Center to a packed house of seniors who sang along and laughed with group. “Donna Blanchard of Apple Tree Arts asked us three years ago if we wanted to start up a chorus at the center,” said Barbara Connelly, senior center director.

Operation Friendship visitors help fight hunger

Grafton – On July 27, ten student delegates from Hungary, four from Wales and three from Crimea rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty to help Community Harvest Project, a Grafton nonprofit. The students, who are being hosted by students and their families from the Grafton chapter of Operation Friendship – a non-profit international exchange organization – had fun helping local OF members harvest vegetables for local food banks and hunger organizations.

Shearing Day at Angel Hair Alpacas

North Grafton – The public is invited to a Shearing Day open house Saturday, June 4, starting at 9 a.m., at Angel Hair Alpacas in North Grafton. Shearing Day is fun for the whole family and a great opportunity to see all the animals, as well as any new babies for spring!
