Operation Friendship visitors help fight hunger

Grafton – On July 27, ten student delegates from Hungary, four from Wales and three from Crimea rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty to help Community Harvest Project, a Grafton nonprofit. The students, who are being hosted by students and their families from the Grafton chapter of Operation Friendship – a non-profit international exchange organization – had fun helping local OF members harvest vegetables for local food banks and hunger organizations.

Pecorino offers the perfect cheese and wine for summer

Grafton musician is busier than ever in retirement

Grafton – Fred Orkiseski is a busy man. And at age 83, he intends on staying that way. He has spent a lifetime performing and teaching music, including serving as director of music for Grafton Public Schools for 40 years. Now, along with making music, he spends his time on other pursuits - golfing, painting, cooking, and learning more about the subjects he loves, such as World War II aviation, railroads and carpentry.

Nipmuc Nation to hold 92nd annual Powwow

Grafton – Nipmuc Indians have resided in Grafton since before recorded history and Nipmuc Nation is stronger than ever. The tribe will be holding its 92nd annual Powwow Sunday, July 29, at the Hassanamesit Reservation in Grafton. The festival features traditional dancing, drumming, food, kids’ crafts and vendors.
