Grafton nonprofit gives homeless dogs a second chance

Grafton – The famous cartoonist Charles Schulz once wrote “Happiness is a warm puppy.” Bay State Dogs, a Grafton-based nonprofit, would almost certainly add that it’s also a warm dog – of any age – in need of a second chance. With its mission to rescue and find good homes for Massachusetts canines, it’s been busy spreading that happiness to people and their furry new companions.

Grafton selectmen review fall Town Meeting warrant

Grafton - At its Sept. 15 meeting, the Grafton Board of Selectmen reviewed 35 proposed articles for presentation at the Oct. 19 fall Town Meeting, and deleted six of them. Town Meeting warrant articles are proposed by the town government or through a petition submitted by voters.

Benoit is promoted at Homefield Credit Union

Lloyd Hamm, president and CEO of Homefield, was effusive in his praise of Benoit and the positive impact she has made since she joined the credit union in 1998.

Grafton American Legion’s walk to help military families

Grafton – For the third year, the Grafton American Legion Delisle-Goulet Post 92 will host a 5.2-mile walk and barbecue to benefit a veterans’ cause – with some changes this time. In addition to a different benefiting charity, it will be held in memory of Charlie Hurley, who unexpectedly passed away May 24 at age 68. Hurley served as the junior vice commander of the Sons of the American Legion in Grafton and coordinated the post’s activities. He also co-chaired the first two walks with Jenn Plante, the post bar manager.
