Shrewsbury – Members of Shrewsbury High School’s senior class recently organized a fundraising effort at the school for those affected by the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. Students and administrators raised an amazing $5,000 that will be sent to the Houston Independent School District.
Westborough - Soon-to-be 7-year-old Triston Krumsiek got his first set of plastic golf clubs for his second birthday. In the five years since then, he has upgraded to metal clubs, begun playing on full-sized courses, and joined a competitive regional golf “tour.” Learning the game of golf faster than many adults, Triston has impressed his parents and other golf mentors alike. While his parents said they do not want to push him to play a sport he does not want to play, Triston himself said he is excited about golf and the success he has had in his young golf career.
Westborough - For the last 10 years, Dave McGrath of Westborough has been Hope Lodge’s live-in night manager. But McGrath was more than just a manager there. He is also a cancer survivor and, as such, served as a symbol of the lodge’s name – hope – to the many patients who came to stay there over the years.

Shrewsbury – Everyone was a winner at UniBank in Shrewsbury Nov. 15 when bank officials announced their Community Giving Program awards. Seven local organizations received some much-needed financial support – just in time for the holiday season. On Oct. 4, UniBank, which recently opened its new Shrewsbury branch located in Lakeway Commons, kicked off its Community Giving Program by asking members of the community to come in and vote for their favorite local organizations. They provided a list of eight organizations for voters with the top three to receive the most financial awards. The list included Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services, Shrewsbury Public Library, Lake Quinsigamond Commission, St. Anne’s Human Services, Shrewsbury Special Olympics, Veteran’s Inc., Thom Worcester Area Intervention, and Shrewsbury Council on Aging.
Northborough - Northborough resident and member of Trinity Church Kathie Nichols was one of 10 members of a mission team that travelled to Nicaragua for 10 days in February. A Ministry of Sharing (AMOS): Health and Hope, based in the capital of Managua, hosted the group.
