Hudson – While serving as principal from 1980 through 2000, James Boyd left his mark on Farley Elementary School. Daily classes were still conducted as he oversaw a renovation throughout the building including the library. Now, the library is named in his memory.

Hudson family gets a big surprise – an unexpected baby

Hudson - For the past 11 years Carol Pinner has woken up at 4:30 a.m. to get ready for her job as a special needs minibus driver for both the Mulready Elementary School and Hudson High School. But on Oct. 3, as Pinner stood in her kitchen, she started suffering from severe stomach pain and then realized when her water broke that she was in labor. An ambulance was called at 4:45 a.m. and 16 minutes later Pinner gave birth to a healthy 7 pound, 14 ounce baby boy on the side of Route 290. Up until that morning, Pinner never knew she was pregnant.

Parent of cancer survivors organizes Dana-Farber fundraiser

Hudson – Participating in a new program called Cheer for Dana-Farber, cheerleaders and students in kindergarten through fourth grade at Mulready Elementary School displayed their spirit Nov. 6 for Pajama Day to benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The fundraiser was organized by Stacey Hartford, whose two youngest sons, Dominic and Jacob, are childhood cancer survivors.

Hudson – Town and state officials participated in a dedication ceremony Oct. 30 for the new $43.3 million Quinn Middle School, which replaced the 45-year-old JFK Middle School. Speakers included Massachusetts School Building Authority Executive Director Jack McCarthy; state Sen. Jamie Eldridge, D-Acton; state Rep. Hudson – About 175 friends, relatives and supportive townspeople gathered Oct. 26 to remember Michaella Libby, a 2010 Hudson High School (HHS) graduate who died in January 2012 at age 20. The occasion was the second annual Miles and Smiles for Michaella, a three-mile walk beginning and ending at Morgan Bowl. While a sophomore at the University of Maryland majoring in public health, she tutored inner-city children in Washington, D.C., and volunteered for Students Helping Honduras.
