Letter to the editor: Fundraising appeal for Assabet’s JROTC program

I am writing to bring to light an urgent need for our award-winning Marine Corps JROTC program at Assabet Valley Technical High School in Marlborough. We AVMCJROTC Auxiliary parents, volunteers, and alumni are asking for your help. Our JROTC program has 122 cadets and one Senior Military Instructor (SMI). We need a second instructor in order to continue this exemplary program. (See the long list of cadets’ accomplishments in Community Advocate, 6/3/16 edition, p. 20).

Letter to editor: Shrewsbury bag ban is anti-business

The Shrewsbury town meeting members who voted with glee for Article 13 to ban traditional plastic bags should be ashamed they were led like lemmings to impose one of the worst anti-business by-laws in the history of the town by progressives with a personal agenda. Next they will seek to ban all plastic bags, plastic water and juice bottles, and once they make the town The People's Republic of Shrewsbury, like Cambridge and Concord, they'll likely push for Sanctuary Status.

Letter to Editor: Recognizing the loss of 1.5 million Armenian Martyrs

April 24th is the 101st commemoration of the Armenian Genocide. Our history is well documented; save for some who think that revising history somehow changes it. We should never forget April 24, 1915, through 1923, when Armenian intellectuals and community leaders were rounded up and murdered, or forced into death marches. This massacre left over 1.5 million Armenian dead from the actions of Young Turk Government members.
