Ban on plastic bags poses difficulties for senior citizen

As a senior citizen having a hard time living on Social Security, which has not increased in three years, and having a more difficult time paying Shrewsbury taxes which have increased $1,200 in the past three years, I want to thank you  - the voters – for getting rid of plastic grocery bags.

Letter to the editor: Assabet Valley has many benefits for students

My name is Desirée Diaz and I’m a junior at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School. Many times I’ve heard things like “You go to Assabet? How will you make it to college?” when I mention to Shrewsbury High School (SHS) students what school I’m in. It saddens me to hear that going to a technical school means I have no chance of passing college. These critiques miss all the benefits of vocational schools that I myself have experienced.

Shrewsbury library vote is for debt exclusion, not override

To the Editor: The appearance of "Vote No on Proposition 2 ? Override" and similar signs throughout Shrewsbury are based either on a misunderstanding of Massachusetts Tax Law at best or disingenuousness at the worst. The signs are intended to refer to, and defeat, a Library Renovation Debt Exclusion question that will come before Shrewsbury voters on November 5th should a Special Town Meeting approve it on October 21st.

Needs of all citizens must be kept in mind regarding issue of field lights

With the many pros and cons regarding proposed field lights, one thing that can’t be disputed is hard core financials. The Stadium Renovation budget (w/out Lights) is $3.5 million.  Lights come with a $400,000 price tag.  Another $12.5 million for a new Pre-K building is being proposed.
