Creating “Fresh Air” family vacation memories

Marlborough – It's always an afternoon filled with anticipation when host families volunteering with the Friendly Town program of the Fresh Air Fund wait at the Marlborough Moose Lodge for buses to arrive from New York City. This year, about 65 families from throughout the Metrowest area were there July 20 to pick up guests ranging in age from 6 to 18.

Kidfest, an end of the summer celebration, offered a variety of activities for kids and their families: jump houses, pitch "n" splash, an inflatable obstacle course, puppet shows, balloon animals, popcorn, cotton candy, face painting, spin art, tattoos, reptiles from Curious Creatures and more.

Hornaday Award Silver Medal, which is the highest award in Scouting for distinguished service to natural resource conservation. Steadman is an Eagle Scout and member of Venturing Crew 51 in Marlborough. He received the award in a ceremony held July 27 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Marlborough.

Dlott chosen as interim school superintendent

Marlborough - Stephen Dlott received high praise from Marlborough School Committee members as they voted unanimously to hire him as the Marlborough Public School's interim superintendent at the committee's July 26 meeting. Dlott will replace former Superintendent Anthony Pope, who resigned in June after months of contentious battle with the Marlborough school community. The committee members said they have complete confidence in Dlott's ability to rebuild trust and credibility in moving forward.

Marlborough - The City Council unanimously approved the establishment of a Senior Citizen Property Tax Work-off Program at its July 23 meeting.
