Marlborough-Mayor Arthur Vigeant would like to expand the number of properties designated for economic development under the provisions of Chapter 43D, a little-known state law that provides grants and incentives for these properties. At the Aug. 24 City Council meeting he asked Councilors to approve the designation of four parcels of land to the list of applicable properties – 15, 17, and 25 East Main St. and 15 Sawin St. The proposal was referred to the Urban Affairs Committee for study.

Mayor presents FY15 budget to Marlborough City Council

Marlborough - Mayor Arthur Vigeant presented the 2015 budget to the City Council at the May 5 meeting, requesting $137.4 million, an increase of just under four percent over the current level of $132.1 million. If approved it could increase annual real estate tax bills by approximately $145 for the average home.

Funds for new Marlborough Senior Center design approved

Marlborough – The City Council unanimously approved at its Dec. 3 meeting $500,000 to fund costs associated with design and engineering plans for a new Senior Center to be built in a section of Ward Park, off Granger Boulevard. Ward 3 City Councilor Matt Elder, who had previously requested a neighborhood meeting in the area to allow his constituents to express any concerns prior to moving forward with the project, said he would not hold up approval of the funding. He added that he is planning to still hold the meeting next week with Mayor Arthur Vigeant in attendance.
