Algonquin Regional High School graduates 346 in 2015

Northborough/Southborough – Diplomas were presented to 346 graduates of the class of 2015 at a ceremony June 7 at Algonquin Regional High School (ARHS). Speakers included Superintendent Christine Johnson; ARHS Principal Thomas Mead; Brian Mawson and Andrew McGowan, ARHS health and physical education teachers; Emily Lowe, class president; and essayist Paul Nardone. Instrumental music was provided by the Algonquin Regional Symphonic Band directed by Eric Vincent.

Northborough BOS say National Grid still has room to improve

Northborough – Although the response by National Grid regarding the town's needs after Hurricane Sandy was better than its response to the October 2011 storm, there is still room for improvement. That was the consensus of Town Administrator John Coderre and the Board of Selectmen at the board's Nov. 5 meeting. Selectman Leslie Rutan said she received a number of complaints from residents regarding National Grid's post-hurricane services. She said that residents expressed concern that Northborough was one of the last towns to have power restored in the area.

St. Bernadette School receives national blue ribbon honor

Northborough - U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan recently recognized St. Bernadette School in Northborough as a 2014 National Blue Ribbon School. Of the 337 schools recognized nationwide, St. Bernadette’s is one of only 50 non-public schools and the only non-public school in all of New England to receive this honor. Blue ribbon schools are chosen based on academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. St. Bernadette’s was recognized as an “Exemplary High Performing School.”

Historic signs installed to recognize three Northborough cemeteries

Northborough - In September 2016 the Northborough Historic District Commission (NHDC) installed three signs in three of Northborough’s historic burial grounds to identify the Brigham Street Burial Ground, the Howard Street Burial Ground, and the Howard Street Cemetery.
