Team Hoyt to participate in annual Marlborough Triathlon

Marlborough - On Sunday, June 10, amateurs and elite athletes will compete in the fourth annual Marlborough Triathlon. Streamline Events co-founded the race with 2008 Olympian Jarrod Shoemaker and elite coach (and Marlborough resident) Tim Crowley. Partners in the event are Marlborough Hospital and the Marlborough High School Boosters team. For the first leg of the course, racers will swim one-third mile in the 150-year-old Fort Meadow Reservoir. Next, they will bike three five-mile loops around a combination of flat and rolling roads and then run two 1.65-mile laps, finishing the race at Marlborough High School.

Responding to the call, summer intern Courtney Wambolt contacted her church, Chapel of the Cross in Westborough, and shared the request with summer (fill-in) administrator Aly Nickerson. Nickerson, 22, sent out an email to church members sharing the request.

Musgrave ‘launched” a quest for fulfillment

Southborough - Story Musgrave has never followed a traditional path. He attended St. Mark's School where his innate desire to explore different places and his passion to seek adventure might have seemed at odds with the expectations of the prestigious school. Because he felt more inclined to experience life rather than read about it in books, and because at the all-boy-school he missed seeing women, children, and families, he left prior to graduation. According to Musgrave, "Not graduating was the right thing to do. I just walked away. I departed."

Westborough girl honored for autism advocacy

Westborough – Autism affects 1 in 110 children and 1 in 70 boys, according to the nonprofit research and advocacy group, Autism Speaks. Westborough resident David Ackerman, is one such boy. Although he lives in a world that is not the same as other teens, he has one powerful ally on his side – his twin sister, Rebecca. Over the past six years, this 16-year-old Westborough High School junior has devoted much of her time and energy to raising $80,000 for autism research as part of the fundraising team she has named, "Doing it for Dave."
