SELCO TV rates forced to rise again

Community effort results in a successful holiday toy drive in Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury - Shrewsbury Youth & Family Services (SYFS) announced that due to the efforts of many volunteers, donors, businesses and the Shrewsbury Knights of Columbus, several disadvantaged children will have gifts to unwrap for the holidays. In Shrewsbury, 78 children were served through this drive and will have toys, books and warm clothes to unwrap. Additionally, 34 families received grocery gift cards to help with the costs of a holiday meal. The remaining gifts were sent to the Department of Children and Families to help bring holiday joy to children in foster care.

Shrewsbury Garden Club hosts annual Holiday House Tour

Shrewsbury – Since 1957, the Shrewsbury Garden Club has supported many community beautification projects. Members recently held a Holiday House Tour to raise money for their various missions. The oldest home on the tour was the former Pease Tavern built in 1751 and now owned by Jim and State Representative Hannah Kane. The Porter House was built in 1846 as part of the Howe family farm.
