Selectmen again postpone hearing regarding “unruly” dogs

Shrewsbury - A hearing on how to deal with complaints of unruly dogs in the Westmont Road neighborhood was again postponed during the June 11 meeting of the Shrewsbury Board of Selectmen. Shrewsbury Animal Control Officer Leona M. Pease had brought before the selectmen the case of complaints from neighbors of Rolland Demers, of 31 Westmont Rd., about unleashed dogs "Saydee" and "Pesky" roaming the neighborhood and allegedly causing problems for other property owners. This hearing was to dispose of the case through action of the selectmen.

Officials say no viable threats found at school after anonymous call

Shrewsbury – Dr. Joseph M. Sawyer, the Shrewsbury Superintendent of Schools, released this statement this afternoon: This morning, the Paton School received an anonymous phone call that made a non-specific threat. Per school district protocol, the Shrewsbury Police were called and the school went into lockdown. After an assessment of the situation by the police, students returned to normal classroom activities within 30 minutes. Out of an abundance of caution, the Shrewsbury Police maintained a presence at the school throughout the day, and one of the Shrewsbury Police Department School Resource Officers will be present at the school for the remainder of the week.
