A glimpse of Civil War History in Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury - The Shrewsbury Parks and Recreation Department held a Civil War Living History Reenactment July 18 at Dean Park. Reenactors from the 13th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Company F portrayed Civil War life in 1865.

Shrewsbury Coalition for Addiction Prevention & Education hosts community forum

Shrewsbury – Dr.Ruth Potee, a nationally renowned expert on addiction, substance use, and the development of the teenage brain,  spoke to concerned parents, educators, school nurses and community members Nov. 16 at Shrewsbury High School. The presentation was sponsored by State Rep. Hannah Kane (R-Shrewsbury) and was hosted by the Shrewsbury Coalition for Addiction Prevention & Education (SCAPE). The talk was preceded by a resource fair with information dealing with addiction, mental health, youth recovery and other support services.

“Drexel the Dog” continues to vex Shrewsbury Selectmen

Shrewsbury - At the Shrewsbury Board of Selectmen meeting May 8, a topic of discussion was once again "Drexel the Dog." Drexel, a Boxer-type dog owned by Kimberly Collins of 47 Memorial Drive, is said to have been running amuck since 2009 as evidenced by numerous and continuing complaints from neighbors who view Drexel's alleged menacing behavior and his habit of repeatedly fouling their yards with great displeasure. At a previous board meeting, Town Animal Officer Leona Pease gave the board a summation of the long-running situation. At that time, the board asked Pease to submit recommendations regarding what actions Collins take regarding her dog.
