Athlete of the Week: Shrewsbury High School's Nick Rodriguez

Background: 2010 selected as a Mid-Wach A League All Star and member. Third year on varsity and member of 2009 League, District and State Championship team. Posted a score of 79, which counted toward the winning team total in the state tournament. Featured as one of the top 12 junior golfers in Massachusetts in Mass Golfer Magazine. Tournaments: AJGA Deutsche Bank Partners for charity shootout (first place). AJGA Rochester Junior Open (eighth), US Public Links Qualifier (fourth).

Shrewsbury excels on big stage against Algonquin

Region - It's not every day that high school hockey players get the chance to play on the same ice as future NHL talent, but the Algonquin Regional High School (ARHS) and Shrewsbury High School (SHS) hockey teams had that chance recently at the third annual High School Hockey Showdown at DCU Arena in Worcester.

Shrewsbury - On Jan. 10, the Board of Sewer Commissioners reported to the Board of Selectmen on the condition of the town's sewer system, as well as the progress being made on a variety of capital improvement projects.

Shrewsbury officials support appeal of new EPA water treatment regulations

Shrewsbury – The Board of Selectmen agreed at its Jan. 10 meeting to have Town Engineer Jack Perreault attend an oral hearing regarding proposed Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) regulations that pertain to the Upper Blackstone Treatment Plant. The hearing, which will be held at the 1st U.S. Circuit Court in Boston, will be to discuss the Upper Blackstone Water Pollution Abatement District's appeal of the EPA's more stringent treatment plant discharge limits on phosphorus and nitrogen.
