Selectmen claim state ‘deaf’ to town’s 40B concerns

Shrewsbury - The Shrewsbury Board of Selectmen began its regularly scheduled meeting Dec. 23 with remarks addressing the town’s attempt to attract “friendly 40B” affordable housing developments. Chair James Kane related the board’s experience when it appeared recently before the Massachusetts Housing Commission in Boston.

Garden Club sponsors two SOS events

Shrewsbury - The 7th annual "Scarecrows on the Common" contest and display, sponsored by the Shrewsbury Garden Club, will take place Friday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 21. Shrewsbury residents, businesses and clubs are invited to create a scarecrow to be displayed on the Town Common. Awards and certificates will be given out in several categories. Again this year, there will be no entry fee; however, participants are asked to fill out and send in an entry form. The deadline for entry is Friday, Sept. 23.

Kane wins decisive victory for re-election to Shrewsbury selectmen

Shrewsbury – James Kane has won his bid for re-election for the Board of Selectmen (BOS) in the May 1 Annual Town Election. Kane, who is the board's current chair, received 2,491 votes or just over 72 percent. His challenger, former Selectman Benjamin Tartaglia, received 959 votes or almost 28 percent.
