Fun runs for local runners

Region - Mark your summer and fall calendar for five unique road races, each with its own special challenge and benefiting local charities. The 5K Spirit of Hudson Road Race with free Mighty Mite Marathon for kids 2 – 6 will be held Saturday, June 11, at 8:30 a.m. The race will start at 5 Houghton St. (around the corner from Medusa Brewing Co.) in Hudson. The race is part of the Hudson Community Festival; 100 percent of the proceeds go to the Elks scholarship fund. USA Track & Field (USATF) certified/walkers welcome/medal awards.

Jingle Bell Run at Saint Luke’s

Westborough - Saint Luke’s Church in Westborough held their fourth annual Jingle Bell Run Dec. 6. The one-mile run is a favorite for church members of all ages. Many children, and even some adults, dressed up in Santa hats and wore jingle bells as they got into the Christmas spirit despite the rainy conditions. The “fun-raiser” is held in the spirit of the children of Haiti and proceeds of the event are donated to Our Little Brother & Sisters Orphanage in Haiti.
