Woman golfer honored by Marlborough Country Club

These are a few of the accolades and comments of admiration made by friends, relatives and members of the Marlborough Country Club as they gathered to honor Fay (Dumas) DeRuvo at a special dedication ceremony recently.

Northborough Recreation seeks volunteers for spring sports

Northborough - Northborough Recreation is looking for volunteers this spring for Challenger Baseball and Youth Flag Football. Parents or kids ages 16 and up are wanted to volunteer to coach a flag football team for grades four and five. Northborough Recreation will train volunteers on the rules but those with an understanding of football are preferred. Games are between 4:30 and 7 p.m. on Sundays for one hour from May 8 to June 19.

Algonquin baseball tops Shrewsbury in extra innings

Northborough – The visiting Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawks defeated the Shrewsbury High School Colonials baseball team on May 8 by a score of 4-1 in a game that stretched to 9 innings. The game was a home game for Shrewsbury, and was played at the New England Baseball Complex.

Westborough – So much was in their favor when the Shrewsbury High (SHS) girls’ varsity ice hockey team faced off against perennial rival Leominster High on March 2 at NorthStar Ice Sports in the opening round of the State Division 2 Tournament. The Colonials had defeated the Blue Devils twice during the regular season (2-1, 4-0). Leominster (8-4-5) came into the matchup ranked 19 compared to 14 for Shrewsbury (11-6-3).
