Shrewsbury High honors top athletes in Hall of Fame

Shrewsbury - Shrewsbury High School (SHS) started its Hall of Fame in 1991, inducting Joseph Russell Sr. from the Class of 1930. Since then over 100 student athletes, 16 coaches and three athletic directors have been elected to this top honor. Jay Costa, the current athletic director, explained that nominees are inducted every two years. The selection committee is comprised of former coaches, athletic directors, players and inductees.

Changes in high school competition benefit Shrewsbury’s varsity swim team

Region - Competitive high school swimming underwent a major transformation beginning this season that has been met with near across-the-board endorsement by area swim coaches, including Shrewsbury High School varsity head coach Alexandra Wilson. Teams remain co-ed but no longer will boys compete against girls in events. Under the new rules, boys will compete against boys and girls versus girls, a radical shift from the past. So, has the change been for the better? Wilson thinks it has.
