Marlborough senior ‘toughs it out’ as Marines take over football practice

Marlborough - Marlborough High School (MHS) senior Willy Cowdrey said the team's Aug. 21 football practice started out rough, with the team messing up assignments and communication. It didn't get any easier when a group of soldiers from the U.S. Marine Corps showed up and took over practice. “We didn't think they were coming because it took a while, and then they came and we were just like, ‘damn,’” Cowdrey said.

What are your earliest hockey memories? "My earliest hockey memory is learning to skate at the Lake Ave. rink in Worcester, back when there was open ice time on Sunday mornings. My dad would tie my skates in the lobby, strap my helmet, and skate around with me, holding me up, with my feet barely touching the ice."

St. John's hosts New England powerlifting championships, wins team titles

Shrewsbury - Saint John's High School hosted the fourth annual Ryan Moore New England High School Powerlifting Championships March 9, closing out the high school powerlifting season. More than 80 male and female athletes from 15 New England high schools competed in the meet, including Saint John's and Shrewsbury High School. Saint John's won the team titles in both the Junior Varsity and Varsity raw divisions, in which athletes are allowed to wear a lifting belt and wrist wraps for extra support.
