Binkeez new headquarters will help expand mission of love and comfort

Shrewsbury High student spreads ‘enchantment’ to local girls

Shrewsbury – Madeline Dolan is currently a junior at Shrewsbury High School. Thanks to a project she started several years ago, One Enchanted Evening, she can also put the title “fairy godmother” on her resume as well. And thanks to her, hundreds of local girls, who couldn't afford a new prom dress, have been given a beautiful new or slightly used formal dress, at absolutely no cost.

Marlborough High student honors friend’s memory with toy drive

Marlborough – In her short 15 years of life, Bernadette LaFollette of Marlborough accomplished many things. She was a straight A student at Marlborough High School (MHS), was a member of the school’s marching band, wind ensemble and drama program. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church where she was an altar server and sang in the children's choir. Bernadette also loved to write and hoped to publish a book one day. All of this, in spite of a significant heart defect that she was born with. But most importantly, according to Julia Dougherty , Bernadette was a wonderful friend who cared about others and did not let her illness stop her from living life to the fullest.

Shrewsbury High School track relay team heading for Nationals

Shrewsbury – “Going to Nationals doesn’t happen too often at Shrewsbury High School, and I’m happy to be a part of it and happy for the rest of the guys,” said senior Ethan Melia. “A key thing this season was being persistent, not giving up, and giving 100 percent every day. No matter how we finish, we kept fighting to reach the next levels.” Four members of the boys’ winter track team are headed to New York City for a national meet Friday, March 13, in the 4-by-200-meter relay. Shrewsbury had a big victory in the Midland A League championship meet in Fitchburg in early February, winning the Central Mass Division 1 title over longtime rival Wachusett. They then competed at States and All-States to lead up to the chance to compete at Nationals.

Marlborough boys basketball team wins Central Mass. Division 2 title

Worcester – The Marlborough High School Panthers boys basketball team are the Central Mass. Division 2 champions after defeating the Concord-Carlisle High School Patriots by a score of 59-45 in the division finals playoff game held March 7. The game was played at Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Harrington Auditorium.

Worcester sailor honored by U.S. Naval Air Force Atlantic

Norfolk, Va. – Aviation Electrician’s Mate 1st Class Ian Macgregor, a native of Worcester, was recently honored as the Commander Naval Air Force Atlantic (CNAL) Sea Sailor of the Year. The announcement was made by Rear Adm. J.R. Haley, commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic, during a luncheon aboard Naval Station Norfolk, March 5. Also honored was Naval Aircrewmen (Avionics) 1st Class William Ballard, of Ponchatoula, La., as the CNAL Shore Sailor of the Year.

Division 3 semi-final playoff game held March 4. The game was played at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough.
