Shrewsbury defeats ARHS in football

0
Northborough - The Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawks played host to the Shrewsbury High School Colonials on Sept. 12 in a lightning-shortened game. The Colonials scored first and made the two-point conversion and then scored two more times in the first half (missing the conversion on the second touchdown and making a point-after kick on the third touchdown). After a weather delay due to lightning, the game resumed but only briefly before more severe lightning and rain suspended the game just after the start of the second half with the score 21-0 ahead of the Tomahawks.

A “beacon of hope” for cancer care soon to open in Marlborough

0
Marlborough – When a resident of Marlborough or one of the surrounding communities was diagnosed with cancer in the past, they for the most part had sought treatment in Boston or Worcester. While certainly grateful to be able to access top-notch care, many also had to face the added stress of a long, arduous commute with added expenses such as tolls and parking fees. Now, those seeking treatment will be able to experience the same quality of excellent care closer to home with the soon-to-be opened UMass Memorial Cancer Center at Marlborough Hospital.

The "Therapy Trio," as the pets are known, also helped to provide comfort to those gathered near the finish of the Boston Marathon for eight straight weekends after the April 15 bombings.

Shrewsbury – After Shrewsbury resident Scott Zenaro died at the much too young age of 36, no one would have blamed his parents, Ron and Carol, if they decided to hold onto their son's beloved custom-built motorcycle for sentimental reasons. Instead, the couple have decided to let go of the bike via a special raffle which will benefit an organization very dear to their hearts – the Lazarex Cancer Foundation – which they credit with helping to prolong their son's life after he was diagnosed with end stage Ewing's sarcoma. Although he was disabled, Scott lived a very full life, Ron said, working alongside him at his two stores, RAYCO Car Electronics in Shrewsbury and Auburn. Scott loved cars, motorcycles, snowmobiling, water skiing, playing golf, and playing the drums.
