Collecting unwanted bicycles for Africa
Hudson – Unwanted bicycles can be put to good use, and St. Michael Parish is making it easy through January for anyone in Hudson and the surrounding communities. A volunteer will pick up old or new bicycles, most of which will be shipped to Ghana, Africa, where many people have no access to other transportation. The pick-up drive is also collecting sewing machines, which can help create work for poverty-stricken women and girls in Ghana.

Westborough - Maria Bolf had never experienced homelessness. She said she worked all of her life, up until she underwent surgery and was unable to keep her job. Money got tight, and before long she said her family found itself choosing between paying bills and buying food.
For the last two weeks, Bolf, her husband, and three of her children have been living in a hotel room in Shrewsbury, which is a long way from their former home in Fall River. They were placed there by the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance.

Baker helps celebrate GE Healthcare Life Sciences grand opening in Marlborough
Marlborough – “It’s a great day for Marlborough,” Mayor Arthur Vigeant said as he greeted Gov. Charlie Baker and other state and local officials June 23 to celebrate the official opening of GE Healthcare Life Sciences headquarters located at 100 Results Way, the site of the former Hewlett Packard (HP).
In 2012 Marlborough was left reeling when Fidelity Investments left the city, just as Hewlett Packard had done a few years prior. But now things are definitely on the upswing as the 210,000 square-foot new GE Healthcare joins Quest Diagnostics on the former HP complex, which is now known as Marlborough Hills.
