Westborough issues warning to state hospital trespassers

Westborough - The town wants would-be trespassers on the state hospital property to know they are not only risking arrest but personal harm if they break into the byzantine network of buildings and tunnels. Town Manager Jim Malloy told the Board of Selectmen at the board’s March 23 meeting that in recent weeks there has been a surge of unauthorized activity on the property. Members sought for Spurr House Committee

Westborough – Last fall Westborough town officials made the decision to close down the American Legion Stowell-Parker Post 163 which was located at 7 Parkman St. The building, known as the Spurr House, was built in 1849 and is behind the Westborough Public Library. It is actually owned by the town but had been home to the Legion since its charter was formed Dec. 26, 1946. But with membership decreasing steadily over the years, and the fact that the group itself only used the building a few days a month, the town decided it was not prudent to continue to keep the building open.
