Westborough voters say no to new Fire Station

Westborough – Voters today denied a request for an $11 million debt exclusion to build a new Fire Station. According to Town Clerk Nancy Yendriga, the unofficial results were 912 not in favor to 672 in favor. 1,587 (14 percent) of the 11,097 registered voters cast their votes.

Stanney honored by Pastoral Counseling Center

Westborough – The Pastoral Counseling Center of Mass. (PCC) recently honored Bill Stanney, who retired from the board of directors after a 15 year stint. During the board’s June 20 meeting, Dr. Mark Booher, the board’s president, said that Stanney, a resident of Northborough, had “donated a huge amount of time and talent” to the organization.

Howard K. (Pete) Fay Jr. is named Westborough’s Veteran of the Year

Westborough – During his life, Howard K. (Pete) Fay Jr. served his hometown and country with a quiet humble dignity, never seeking the spotlight. Throughout his 90 years, he only left Westborough once, at age 19, for an extended period – to serve in the U.S. Army for two years during World War II. Twice wounded while serving with the 34th Infantry Division, Fay received numerous medals and accolades for his bravery, including the Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star (Meritorious Service), Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, with four battle stars, among others.
