Ashland Film & Discussion Series presents Neoconservatism Rebranded
February 14 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Ashland – The Ashland Documentary Film & Discussion Series will present “Neoconservatism Rebranded,” a 73-minute episode from the documentary film series, “A Very Heavy Agenda,” Thursday, Feb. 14, from 7-9 p.m., at the Ashland Library, Community Room, 66 Front St. The event is free and open to the public.
In Neoconservatism Rebranded, filmmaker Robbie Martin allows leading neoconservatives to explain their world view and set forth their demands for U.S. military intervention in Iraq, Ukraine and Syria. Interspersed between interviews with leading neoconservatives are snippets from a Bill Moyers interview with neoconservative critic Andrew Bacevich. The episode shows the neoconservative influence in both the Bush and Obama administrations. The film content gives rise to questions about the linkage between neoconservatism and neoliberalism and about the class interests served by neoconservative wars.
The Ashland Documentary Film & Discussion Series has been showing documentary films monthly since 2005. The series is held at in the Ashland Library, Community Room, on the second Thursday of each month. All points of view are welcome. Discussion is often lively and thought-provoking. The films are sponsored by the Friends of the Ashland Library.
