Assabet Valley Mastersingers to hold concert of American folk songs
March 10 @ 3:30 pm
Southborough – Assabet Valley Mastersingers will showcase a stirring array of American folk songs Sunday, March 10, at 3:30 p.m., at St. Mark’s School, 25 Marlborough Rd., Southborough.
The program will include both sets of Aaron Copland’s “Old American Songs”; Gwyneth Walker’s “River Songs,” commissioned by AVM in 1996; and four compelling folk song arrangements by Mack Wilberg for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. AVM Artistic Director and Founder Robert P. Eaton will conduct the concert with accompaniment by two pianos and percussion and with three vocal soloists selected from the chorus. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Southborough Community Fund, a fund of the Foundation for MetroWest.
St. Mark’s auditorium is accessible to the physically challenged, however parking space is quite limited. There will be alternative parking at Woodward School, 28 Cordaville Rd., with a free shuttle service. Large print programs will also be offered.
Concert tickets may be purchased through the AVM website or at David French Music Co., Westborough; Gray’s Carpet Center, Northborough; Shrewsbury Federal Credit Union; English Gardens Florist, Southborough; Serendipity Jewelry, Art, & Whimsy in Hudson; and both Joy-Den Jewelers and Main Street Café in Marlborough. Advance sale tickets are discounted $3 at these seven local outlets from the general price of $25 and $20 for students and senior citizens.
