MBCC Against the Tide at Nickerson State Park
August 17 @ 7:00 am - 12:00 pm
Brewster – The Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC) is holding its 20th annual statewide Against the Tide multi-sport event Saturday, Aug. 17, from 7 a.m. to noon. Set against the backdrop of beautiful Nickerson State Park, Against the Tide offers something for all outdoor enthusiasts.
Participants can enjoy Flax Pond’s pristine beaches and water locales for the 1/2-mile paddle board, competitive 1-mile swim, 1/2-mile and 1-mile recreational swims, and 2-mile kayak events. The USATF certified 5K and 10K and 3-mile fitness walk route boast a paved tree-lined rolling course through Nickerson State Park. All ages and abilities are welcome to choose from up to 4 of these exciting activities. The event also offers an Aquathon “Splash and Dash” component, where participants “splash” in the competitive 1-mile swim and immediately “dash” in either the 5K or 10K run (chosen by the participant).
Participants may register as an individual or as part of a team. Registration is $40 per adult per event activity and $25 per student per event activity. Children under 10 may participate in any event free of charge. Participants are encouraged to fundraise beyond the registration fees, as all proceeds support MBCC’s unique goal of breast cancer prevention. Prizes will be awarded to the fastest swim, run, and Aquathon athletes, top age-group finishers, and top fundraisers.
MBCC will be honoring firefighters at all of their 2019 athletic fundraisers. MBCC invites firefighters and their families to walk as guests at the Against the Tide event. If you are a firefighter or a family member and wish to attend, please email [email protected] or call 1-800-649-6222 to register.
