MPL Friends present Stephen Collins in ‘Sailing Towards My Father’
February 13 @ 7:00 pm
Marlborough – The Friends of Marlborough Public Library are pleased to announce the third program of their 2018-2019 Special Program Series as they present Stephen Collins in his one man show, “Sailing Towards My Father.” Mark your calendars for Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m., so as not to miss this theatre group as they make a return appearance with another one of their original shows designed to educate as well as entertain.
Sailing Towards My Father is a one-man play about Herman Melville (1819-1891), the American author best known for his whaling epic Moby-Dick; The play chronicles Melville’s life from youth to old age, concentrating on his evolution as a writer and his complex relations with God, his parents and siblings, his wife and children, and Nathanial Hawthorne. Hawthorne was such a frequent guest of Melville’s that he had his own small bedroom off Melville’s study.
