Northborough Free Library Film and Discussion Series
February 28 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Northborough – The Northborough Free Library is presenting a series of films aimed at bringing our community together to reflect upon and share our cultural views and experiences. Join the library in February for a screening and discussion of the critically acclaimed films First Reformed on Thursday, Feb. 28, from 7-10 p.m.
Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, First Reformed tells the story of 46-year-old Reverend Ernst Toller, the solitary parish pastor of the historic First Reformed Church in upstate New York on the cusp of celebrating its 250th anniversary. The church is now a tourist attraction catering to a dwindling congregation, eclipsed by its nearby parent church, Abundant Life.
When a pregnant parishioner asks Reverend Toller to counsel her husband, a radical environmentalist, Toller faces questions of faith and morality, and his own traumatic past and equally despairing future. This film is rated R for disturbing violent images and some language.
Registration is not required. Attendees are encouraged to stay for the entire program, which includes the viewing of the film followed by discussion. The next three films in this series are Fed Up on March 14, RBG on March 23, and Bag It on April 6.
