Shrewsbury –In just a little over a month, the community will gather for the annual Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival, a fun-filled celebration to be held the weekend of Sept. 28-30. One need not wait, however, to enjoy the ‘spirit’ because there are activities right now and leading up to the big weekend to whet your appetite.
Cruzzin’ Dreams Car Show features classic cars, muscle cars, cars of all makes and models. Everyone is welcome every Thursday evening, from 5 – 8 p.m., through the end of September, at the Hebert Candy Mansion located at 575 Hartford Turnpike (Route 20) in Shrewsbury.
Now in its fourteenth year, Cruzzin’ Dreams is a nonprofit organization that supports many local charities including the UMass Walk to Cure Cancer. The event is free but donations are welcome. For information, visit www.cruzzindreams.com.
Celebrate Lake Quinsigamond Day 2018 will take place Saturday, Sept. 8. The fun starts at Regatta Point Community Sailing/Quinsigamond State Park in Worcester from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The event is sponsored by the Lake Quinsigamond Watershed Association (LQWA.) The day’s events include a classic wooden boat show, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.; beach yoga, 11 a.m.-12 p.m.; boat parade, 2 – 3 p.m.; live music and food under the tent, 12 – 6 p.m.
The Shrewsbury Fire Department will demonstrate its hovercraft and the Worcester Mounted Police will also be on hand. The boat parade’s theme is “Any Holiday.” It is free, but participants must pre-register at www.lquinsig.eventbrite.com. This year’s sponsors include Full Throttle Marine and More, Shore Side Docks, Ski Chair and USA Marine.
