Marlborough – The Marlborough Public Library, 35 W. Main St., is offering free upcoming special events for kids, teens and adults.
For children, there is a monthly afterschool book club, “Hooked on Books.” Each month the group will learn about a different genre or format. This month, read Ron Roy’s “Capital Mysteries, Book 1: Who Cloned the President?” then join Ms. Kerry for a book talk, a snack and fun activity. This club meets Tuesday, March 26 at 4:30 p.m. Copies of this month’s selection are available at the children’s circulation desk. Registration is required.
Krafty Kids, a fun drop-in craft session, will be held Wednesday, March 27, at 10 a.m. with Ms. Tricia.
Stop by the library and learn about coding with Code Wiz Wednesday, March 27, at 4 p.m.
This program is for children ages 7 to 9. Kids will learn to code using visual code blocks that represent real programming concepts that scale from easy to advanced. They will learn about sequencing, loops, infinite loops, conditionals, events and more. Registration is required.
Ms. Larissa will lead a story time and craft in Portuguese Thursday, March 28, at 11 a.m. Ages 3 and up. No registration necessary.
On Friday, March 29 at 10 a.m., drop in and see what you can create with library’s vast collection of craft supplies. Ages 3-6 with a caregiver.
For teens, join Code Wiz for a demo of some coding basics and see if coding is for you Wednesday, March 27 from 5-5:45 p.m. The demo will touch on the topics of Game-Based Python, Java, and HTML/CSS/Javascript. Space is limited, and registration is required. This program is for ages 10-15.
A Lazy Crafternoon will be held Friday, March 29 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Use artificial flowers to make a long-lasting DIY flower crown and/or woven friendship bracelets to get ready for the warmer weather. Registration is required.
For adults, this month’s movie night features “The Return of the King” to be shown Monday, March 25, from 5:30-8 p.m. Celebrate Gondorian New Year, March 25, the day that the ring of power was destroyed by Frodo in Mount Doom. This movie is rated PG-13. Registration is preferred, but drop-ins are welcome.
Abigail Whitney invites you for tea, Tuesday, March 26, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., sponsored by the Friends of the Marlborough Public Library. Join Abigail in an afternoon of tea and colonial conversation. Learn about when tea was discovered. Using a tea service similar to Abigail’s, investigate why tea was so important on an economical, political, and social level in 18th-century New England. This program will conclude with a cup of tea and sweet. Registration is required as space is limited.
