Westborough – Westborough Civic Club will hold its 12th annual Fishing Challenge Saturday, May 11, at Minuteman Park at 91 Upton Road, Westborough. This family event is free and fun for all ages. There are multiple prizes in three age groups for longest fish caught between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Rods and bait are available or bring your own.

According to event Chair Bill ‘Big Fish’ Kohler, “This is a great no-cost opportunity for children and adults to try fishing with guidance from onsite Mass Wildlife instructors,” said Event Chair Bill Kohler.

A fishing license is not required during this educational event and contestants may fish for just a while or the full four hours.  Free registration is on site during the event.

Club President Walter Leslie added:

“Westborough Civic Club has resources to sponsor this event by the efforts of our member volunteers and funds raised at our annual Christmas Tree Sale. In addition to the Fishing Challenge, Civic Club makes many donations to local organizations in a variety of areas including youth programs, arts, scholarship, and social services. We are looking for additional members to join our nonprofit club that has been supporting the Westborough community since 1975.”
