Westborough Library to host talk on Massachusetts’ role in the Woman Suffrage Movement

March 19 @ 7:00 pm

Westborough – Celebrate Women’s History Month at the Westborough Public Library, 55 West Main St., as it hosts Barbara Berenson, author of “Massachusetts in the Woman Suffrage Movement: Revolutionary Reformers” Tuesday, March 19, at 7 p.m.

Berenson tells the story of the national suffrage movement and gives this state’s suffragists the attention they deserve.  Long before the Civil War, Lucy Stone and other abolitionists launched the organized women’s movement. After the war, state activists founded the Boston-based American Woman Suffrage Association to lead campaigns across the country. Their work laid the foundation for the next generation of suffragists to triumph over tradition.

Copies of “Massachusetts in the Woman Suffrage Movement” will be available for purchase. This program is free, open to the public, and sponsored by the Friends of the Westborough Library.
