Worcester County home inventory comes into balance

By Steve Levine, President of Steve Levine Inc., and an agent for REMAX Prestige Over the last months, we'se talked about a dire lack of inventory out here in Worcester County. Inspired by the lowest interests any of us have ever seen, and buoyed by the obvious fact that prices were once again on the rise, buyers have been coming out in droves for the last few months only to find that there was precious little out there to choose from.

Youth substance abuse prevention group formed in Hudson

Hudson - Students, teachers, parents, policemen, and other concerned residents have joined the Hudson Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition, sponsored by the Hudson Board of Health. These community partners are committed to reverse the current trend of increasing adolescent substance use in Hudson that was revealed in the 2010 MetroWest Adolescent Health Survey. The coalition was formed shortly after the town of Hudson received a three-year, $180,000 grant from the MetroWest Foundation. "Substance abuse, including over-the-counter, prescription, and "street" drugs, is a major public health concern in this country," Pat Emmons, a Hudson High School nurse and chair of the Hudson Board of Health, said. "Hudson is not immune to this problem. I work with a population at high risk on a daily basis and have seen the impact of these behaviors on our most vulnerable citizens. By reaching out to community leaders of all ages, we hope that the coalition can send a clear, united message that Hudson cares."

Westborough 10-year-old All-Stars to host Family Fun Day July 21

Westborough – The public is invited to join the Westborough Little League 10-year-old All-Stars for a Family Fun Day Sunday, July 21 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Target Fields. The team of 12 players, with their families and coaches, will be hosting the event as a fundraiser for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute's Jimmy Fund. Each year the team traditionally participates in a state-wide initiative to raise funds for the Jimmy Fund. The effort, their head coach Mike Stanton said, is a way to not only raise money for an important cause but also is a way to teach them about what seriously ill children must endure and how they can help those kids. The team will also be paying a visit to Dana Farber to learn more about how the money they raise is used to help sick kids.
