Marlborough – Philip J. Wood, 78, formerly of Southborough and Framingham, died Wednesday March 30, 2011, at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham. He was the beloved husband of Jane (McNamara) Wood for the past 52 years.
Mr. Wood was a 1950 graduate of Boston College High School and graduate of Suffolk University of Boston. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict. He was a district manager at Verizon for 40 years.
He was a devoted family man and took pleasure in spending time with family and friends. He was an avid New England sports fan and enjoyed playing golf. He was also a member of St. Anne Church of Southborough.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his six children, Suzanne Wood of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Jennifer Wood of Falmouth; Philip J. Wood Jr. and his wife, Janet, of Hershey, Pa.; Brian J. Wood and his wife, Jodi, of Newton; Stephanie Wood of Morrisville, N.C.; and Jonathan Wood of Natick. He also leaves his siblings, Connie Knebel, George Wood, Matthew Wood, Joseph Wood and James Wood, and four grandchildren, Megan Dinnerstein, Jason Wood, Eric Wood and Rachel Wood. He is predeceased by three siblings, Charles Wood, Regina Flemming and Helena Drass.
A Mass of Christian burial was held April 2 at St. Anne Church of Southborough, with burial at the Rural Cemetery, Southborough. The Morris Funeral Home of Southborough assisted with arrangements.
