Shrewsbury – Shrewsbury's Public Library officials have come up with a unique way to help both their patrons who have been tardy returning materials, as well as those hoping to raise money for cancer research – an amnesty period for late library items.
From May 1 to May 14, not only will patrons not be charged for any delinquent books or other materials, they will also have any older fines wiped off their record.
In exchange, they are encouraged (but not required) to make a contribution to one of the two teams the library will sponsor as part of the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event, which will be held on May 13 to May 14 at Sherwood Middle School.
