Westborough – Norma H. Viera, 78, died Saturday April 23, 2011 at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center.

Born in Claremont, N.H., she was the daughter of the late Karl Goddard Hornsyld and Miriam (Rodgers) Hornsyld and graduated from the New Bedford Vocational High School.

Mrs. Viera was employed as a cook for the Westborough School Department and also for the Department of Youth Services in Grafton prior to her retirement. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church and was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church both in Westborough. She also volunteered for “Meals On Wheels”.

She is survived by her two daughters, Janet Temple and her husband, Arnold, of Natick and Jane Ritter and her husband, John, of Westford; one sister, Helen Bliss of Taunton; and two grandchildren, Scott and Lisa Ritter.

Calling hours will be held Sunday May 1, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough. A graveside funeral service will be held Monday May 2, at 11 a.m., in the Acushnet Cemetery, 91 Main St., Acushnet. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Westborough Fire/Ambulance Gift Fund, 42 Milk St., Westborough, MA 01581 or to the Salvation Army, 29 Congress St., Milford, MA 01757.
