Marlborough – Some members of the girls team maneuver their robot at Quinsigamond Community College. The Whitcomb School Robotics Team Marlborough, composed of fifth- and sixth-graders, competed at the college with other fifth- and sixth-graders May 26 and June 2. There were over 20 teams involved in the contest. The Whitcomb School had two teams – a girls team and a boys team. The competition involved the VEX roundup, which consisted of scoring points by placing plastic tubes on goal posts. The students had to work together to design and build their own robot to complete the task. The girls team won fifth place in the first competition and The Judges Award for the best engineering notebook and innovative robot design in the second.
