Westborough – Joseph H. La Liberte, 82, died Monday Aug. 1, 2011, at Joseph H. La Liberte, 82the Bolton Manor in Marlborough. He was the husband of the late Lea Marie (Griffin) La Liberte.

Born in Claremont, N.H., the son of the late Charles and Esther (Tattan) La Liberte, he was educated in Claremont schools and was a graduate of Stevens High School. In 1950, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and, in 1952, a Master's, both at Boston College.

During the Korean Conflict, he served with the United States Army, attaining the rank of First Lieutenant.

Mr. La Liberte was a Psychiatric Social Worker and Director of the Family Counseling and Guidance Centers in Boston from 1962 to 1989.

He was an avid BC football fan, a member of the BC Marching Band during his undergraduate years, and had been a resident of Westborough for three years, previously living in Reading for many years.

He is survived by his five children, Joseph J. La Liberte and his wife Joanne of Acton, Brian M. La Liberte and his wife Jo-Anne of Winchester, Marianne K. Viscardi and her husband Jerry of Westborough, John C. La Liberte of Bedford, and Lea J. Barrett and her husband Thomas of Acton; one brother, Charles La Liberte and his wife Phyllis of Wilbraham; and 14 grandchildren.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday Aug. 6, at 10 a.m., in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Acton. There are no calling hours.
