Marlborough – Saturday Aug. 27, the 2011 Dollars for Scholars Ride will Dollars for Scholars Ride Aug. 27 in Marlboroughkick off at the Marlborough Moose Lodge on Fitchburg Street. All riders will register at the Assabet Valley Regional Vocational High School located at 215 Fitchburg St. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at Assabet Valley, with kickstands up at 11:05 a.m. Everything opens to the public at 12:30 p.m., but music provided by The Sunday Sinners Band and DJ Bobby Begg begins at 1 p.m. and food will be served when the riders return.

The Shawna Jean Larassa Memorial foundation was established by her loving family and friends to perpetuate the memory of a cherished young woman who was taken from her loved ones in the midst of her greatness. The goal of the fund is to provide scholarship assistance to young individuals who, like Shawna, are determined to live life to the fullest and are natural inspirations to all they encounter. Citizens for Scholarship Foundation (CSF) of Marlborough is a volunteer-driven organization with a 20-year history of mobilizing the community (individuals, civic organizations, businesses, corporations and foundations) to encourage education beyond high school by providing scholarship assistance to residents of the Marlborough.

Pre-registration for the Dollars for Scholars Ride is $20 per rider and $10 per passenger. Shirts are $10 each. Registration the day of the event is $25 per rider, $10 per passenger and $15 for shirts (supplies are limited). The rain date is Sunday Aug. 28.
