Shrewsbury – Gertrude (Avolizi) Gray, 97, formerly of Delmont Avenue Gertrude Gray, 97in Worcester where she lived most of her life, passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, at the Shrewsbury Nursing Home. Her husband of 62 years, Warren “Hap” Gray, predeceased her in 1994.

She leaves her daughter, with whom she lived for several years, Marion C. Mangano and her husband Albert Sr. of Grafton; a son, Dr. Richard W. Gray of Florida; five grandchildren, Cheryl (Mangano) D’Amico and her husband David, Lorna Mangano, Albert Mangano Jr., Todd Gray and his wife Kayo, and Brian Gray and his wife Kazuyo; four great-grandchildren, Anthony D’Amico, Cayla D’Amico, Tobey Gray, and Kota Gray; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five sisters and two brothers.

Born Aug. 26, 1913, in Worcester, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Antoinette (Colella) Avolizi.

Mrs. Gray worked at Culver-Stearns Manufacturing Company, retiring in 1975. She was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Loreto Church in Worcester and its leisure club, and was a member of St Vincent Guild and a lifetime member of the Sons of Italy, Worcester Lodge #168.

Her funeral will be held Friday Aug. 19, at 9 a.m., at Fazio Funeral Home, 9 Branch St., Worcester, with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m., in Our Lady of Loreto Church of Worcester. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Rd., Worcester, MA 01604-3999. Funeral are arrangements under the direction of Louis M. Fazio Jr. and Louis M. Fazio III.
