Shrewsbury – Even though Irene was downgraded to a tropical storm from full-fledged hurricane status, her winds still packed plenty of punch as this tree at the corner of Maple and Richard avenues shows. Trees and power lines were toppled throughout the town and other area communities, leading to road closings and wide-spread power outages.
