Hudson/Westborough – Antonio D. Monteiro, 74, a native of Hudson and resident of Westborough State Hospital for 45-plus years, died peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011 at Parson's Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Worcester.

Born and raised in Santa Maria, the Azores of Portugal, he was the son of the late Francisco P. and Maria (Braga) Monteiro. He moved to Hudson from Portugal in 1955, residing in the town for several years before taking up residence in Westborough.

Mr. Monteiro worked as an assembler for several years for the former Scutney Shoe Co. of Hudson. He was a member of the former Christ King Parish in Hudson and was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.

He is survived by his sister, Maria L. Monteiro of Hudson, and was predeceased by his two brothers, Jose M. Monteiro in 2007 and John B. Monteiro in 2010. He is also survived by his two sisters-in-law, Maria I. Monteiro and Maria Meneses Monteiro, both of Hudson, and his many loving nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, Dec. 19, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday, Dec. 18, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc., 50 Central St., Hudson, MA 01749.
