Marion Ford, 85Charlton/ Northborough – Marion Gloria Day was born Oct. 11, 1926 to Leslie Clifton Day and Bertha (Beatty) Day. Raised in Northborough the fifth of eight children, she was a good student and an excellent athlete, receiving the Daughters of the American Revolution award in her senior year of high school and playing on the girls” basketball team all four years.

After graduation, she attended UMass in Amherst, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in June 1948. In September of that year, she married her high school sweetheart, Alfred J. Ford Jr., and moved with him to New Haven, Conn., where he was completing his studies at Yale University. She and AJ were a strong and loving team, raising six children and celebrating 63 years of marriage.

Mrs. Day was active in community affairs and enjoyed gardening, golf and bowling, and playing bridge.

She leaves five daughters, Linda Parker of South Deerfield, Penny Combs of Glen Allen, Va., Holly Mannchen of Waldorf, Md., Kim Guest of Hampstead, N.H., and Dr. Judy Baumhauer of Fairport, N.Y.; one son, Barrett Ford of Los Angeles; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She also leaves four sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours. The burial will be private in Howard Street Cemetery of Northborough. Hays Funeral Home of Northborough is assisting the Ford family with arrangements.
