Hudson – Fernando F. Goncalves, 43, died Friday, March 2, 2012 at UMass Memorial Healthcare, University Campus in Worcester.
Born in Searraquinhos, Montalegre, Portugal, son of Davide Goncalves of Portugal and the late Helena (Ferreira) Goncalves, he had resided in Hudson the past 21 years after moving from Portugal.
Mr. Goncalves was a self-employed mason, specializing in stone work and the construction of walls and walkways. He was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson and the Hudson Portuguese Club, and enjoyed spending his spare time with his three children.
Besides his father, he is survived by his three children, Nikita Goncalves and Nicole Goncalves, both of Athol, and Rebecca Goncalves of Hudson. He is also survived by his longtime companion, Eliane Neto of Hudson; his two brothers, Manuel Goncalves and Joaquim Goncalves, both of Portugal; his sister, Fatima Goncalves of Portugal; and his many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, March 7, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery of Hudson. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, March 6, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson.
