Robert J. Farquharson, 81West Boylston – Robert J. Farquharson, 81, a former longtime resident of Hudson, died Sunday, March 4, 2012 at UMass Memorial Healthcare, University Campus in Worcester. He is survived by his wife of 8-plus years, Julie (Lavallee) Proko-Farquharson of West Boylston, and was predeceased by his first wife, Louisa “Skip” (Collette) Farquharson, in 2002.

Born and raised in Spencer, son of the late Walter G. and Evelyn (Gagnon) Farquharson, he attended local schools in Spencer and was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Farquharson was employed as a plant manager by Hudson Light and Power Dept. in Hudson for 32 years until retiring in 1987. He was also a longtime call firefighter in Hudson.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his three children, Linda L. Dermatis and her husband Paul of Leominster, Gail A. Raymond of Westbrook, Maine, and Walter G. Farquharson and his wife Debra of Hudson; his sister, Lorraine May of New York; his two grandchildren, Aimee and Erin Farquharson; his four step-children, Dianne Silun and her husband Paul of Boylston, S. Edward Proko and his wife Beth of Worcester, Suzanne Borleis and her husband Daniel of Concord, N.C., and Patricia Ryan of Holden; five step-grandchildren, Brandon and Brooke Borleis, Mackenzie Ryan, and Morgan and Delaney Proko; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his step-daughter, Maryann Borjeson.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, March 8, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery of Hudson. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, March 7, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson.
