The C.A. six tips of the day for March 14Region – Today is Wednesday, March 14. On this day in 1792 Westborough's own Eli Whitney received a patent for the cotton gin. Although this revolutionized the way cotton was processed, some historians have said that this invention also indirectly helped to keep slavery alive in the South. Ironically, although the cotton gin was a boon for many, Whitney did not become a rich man as a result of inventing this machine.

Today is also the 133rd birthday of Albert Einstein, arguably one of the world's most supremely intelligent men ever to live. Einstein was born in 1879 and in his 76 years of life, he changed and challenged much of what was believed to be true, in regards to theories of relativity, physics and so much more.

Here are six tips for the day –

1. Also on this day, in 1950 the FBI released its first “Most Wanted List”. None of the police departments in the C.A. readership publish that kind of list but they do make available their daily logs. We publish those each week – here's the latest one from Hudson –

2. As the new mayor of Marlborough, Arthur Vigeant is very busy with all sorts of business matters related to the city. But he does take the opportunity to do some fun things as well. Monday he met with local Girl Scouts to help acknowledge the Girls Scouts of the United States of America's 100th birthday.

Officials are now mulling a new, down-sized plan and are seeking comments from the public.
