WESTBOROUGH — Town Meeting has approved a request to add an MBTA Communities Multifamily Overlay District.
The town has proposed three parcels that would comprise the district — Gleason Street (Westborough Village); Turnpike Road A (Parc Westborough) and Turnpike Road B (Arrive). These parcels comply with the regulations put forth by the state.
All three parcels have multifamily units already built.
The overlay district would allow multifamily housing as of right; building permits would still be required.
Town Planner Jenny Gingras presented an overview of the proposal, including how the overlay district was determined.
Both Gingras and Planning Board Chair Mark Silverberg said they do not anticipate any additional housing within this district.
